I have very similar issues. Also had low iron as I couldn't process red meat. I checked Jordan Reasoner's SCD website and discovered that I probably had no/low stomach acid. Once I started to take Betaine Hydrochloride pills (ONES with PEPSIN = without is useless) I was able to digest even red meat no problem. Check their SCD posts on how to take this though as it can cause ulcers if you don't need it. I also take digestive enzymes and they help too. It's the viscous cycle discussed in Elaine Gottchall's book: damaged gut = over worked liver = low enzyme/ bile production = low stomach acid etc. Highly recommend SCD with supplements of digestive enzymes and Betaine hydrochloride with pepsin!
