Help with symptoms and test results - hypothyroid?
Hello everyone,
I need your help with interpreting my husband's test results and symptoms.
My husband is suffering for 3 years now from something that no doctors can diagnose.
He has symptoms that can be attributed to different illnesses, but doctors clear him to be healthy, based on test results.
My husbands symptoms (the most severe, not all) are:
ED,
insomnia,
mood swings,
anchedonia (both sexual and emotional),
hypogonadism,
tachycardia,
dry skin, eyes,
loss of hair,
loss of perspiration,
low body temperature,
huge (about 30 lb) weight gain in about 3 months( very rapid).
We do not believe that he HAS hypothyroid disease,
because his labs are consistently showing good numbers (below). He insists that his body for some reason does not "use" thyroid hormones, hence the symptoms.
My question is - does anyone here have hypothyroid symptoms, but they are cause something other that a gland dysfunction?
My husband used to have cortisol out of balance, and it was taken care of, but nothing changed (symptom-wise, the numbers are good).
He used to be on testosterone replacement therapy, but it did not work. No matter how much(or little) hormone he had in his body, it was not "used". Freakishly the same, as the thyroid is not used.
My hub used to take T3 and had zero results. He has Armour prescription, but is hesitant to take it, because his test results are consistently showing good levels.
The last thyroid test were done on 09/29:
TSH - 1.600 uIu/mL (.45-4.5)
T4 - 6.3 ug/dL (4.5-12.0)
T3 - 120 ng/dL (71-180)
T3, free 3.6 pg/mL (2.0-4.4)
T3 reverse 11.4 ng/Dl (9.2-24.1)
Does anyone have any idea, what can cause the symptoms with no obvious reasons/illness?
My husband is not crazy, he does not have a
Depression ( yes, he is not happy, but who would be in his place?). The symptoms he describes cannot be simulated. At least, the rapid weight gain without change in diet (he eats very little and low calorie/carb. does not drink alcohol, coffee, soda at all, does not smoke), or fast heart rate.
If you can point to me where to look ( because I had trouble with even picking forum) , or share your story, I will greatly appreciate it
