Re: Looking for a Fasting buddy
40 days is a lot for your first water fast. There are certain dangers in such a long fast if you are not experienced and not supervised.
Try 8 days to see how it goes, then refeed and stay with almost entirely fruits and vegetables. If you must have animal products, stick with homemade yogurt, free-range eggs, and wild-caught fish, but all that should be at a minimum.
After a couple months of that, do a 15-25 day
Water Fast (the main event, so to speak).
I personally am between my first 8-day
Water Fast and my serious 14-18 day
Water Fast that I will begin in early October.

Separately, if weight loss is the goal,
Water Fasting may not be the best approach.
Water Fasting is best for those seeking autolysis, but for weight-loss, a 60-100 day juice fast is probably better in terms of risk and tolerability. There are YouTube videos of 60-100 day juice fasts that have lost 60-100
pounds of weight.
A 40-day water fast as your first fast is risky, particularly if your main goal is just weight loss, rather than trying to cure a specific disease. You can even combine the two, doing an 8-day water fast immediately transitioning to a 30/45/60 day juice fast.
How much weight are you trying to lose?
A 40-day water fast is generally something done by people trying to cure advanced stage cancer or some other serious disease, with relatively little left to lose...
