Another tidbit to consider and to help more fully visualize this idea is that a quart or liter of water weighs about 2.25 pounds. If we are mildly dehydrated and drink 4 quarts of water... and eliminate only 2 quarts of this through urine and whatever other means, we are holding onto 4.5 pounds of extra water weight. It's easy to see how and why our weight can fluctuate so substantially.
