Re: Taking selenium WITH amalgams
Thank you very much for your response illys,
I do not have read regarding selenium yeast and the promotion of candida biofilms. We decided to buy selenium yeast because we read very good cientific papers about it like this one:
http://www.researchgate.net/publication/8198749_The_use_of_high-Se_yeast_to_raise_Se_status_how_does_it_measure_up_Br_J_Nutr
illys, could you share with me a source of this matter of selenium yeast and biofilms?
In the page of SelenoExcell is said the following (
http://selenoexcell.com/faq/):
Is it safe to use a nutritional supplement that contains yeast?
Yes. “The yeast in nutraceuticals is dead, since the yeast manufacturing process involves a high-temperature, sterilization of the cream yeast immediately prior to spray drying . . . . By definition, an inactive yeast is dead and has lost its ability to reproduce in or out of the human body.” Dr. Seymour Pomper a leading researcher working with the industrial food applications of yeast for over 40 years explains the differences between Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which is used in nutritional supplements and Candida.
and
With SelenoExcell® High Selenium Yeast, is there a problem with Candida?
Absolutely not because Cypress SelenoExcell® High Selenium Yeast is produced by fermentation using the common yeast organism known as Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Candida is a yeast infection caused by the pathogen species known as Candida albicans, collectively known as candidiasis. A yeast authority, Dr. Graeme M. Walker, has clearly shown that Saccharomyces cerevisiae produces a factor that kills the pathogen species, Candida. Therefore, it can help control candidiasis.
Of course it is their official webpage, but maybe they are honest.
Thanks for all the info regarding selenium and methylation cycle. I'm reading about that and starting to understand. So, do you think that there is not a problem in taking selenium with amalgams, other than the methylation issue that you exposed, or selenium and mercury can be toxic when they combine?
I see that methionine has sulfur. It is not a problem taking methionine then with amalgams?
Dr.
Hulda Clark recommends sodium selenite since it is the form, she says, that the Syncrometer detects on the healthy organs, so she assumes that it is the beneficial form. One thing that surprised me is that she says that selenium is one of the foods of the white blood cells and we need tons of it (she recommends, with other supplements, very high doses of selenium over 3 mg). I have read in Naturehackerproducts that sometimes he takes 10 mg/day with a lot of metionine or SAM-e, so it seems that taking very high doses of selenium is possible without side effects (at least, some people do it). In the "official literature" I have seen a NOAEL of 0.015 mg/Kg/day (Sources:
http://www.epa.gov/iris/subst/0472.htm
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8852418 I do not know for which form of selenium is stablished this NOAEL).
As we have bought Selenoexcell, I will research more on the use of methionine and elemental selenium, and if it is safe and beneficial this combination, we will go trough it (if finally there is no problem with the amalgams).
I will research on the forum history regarding sodium selenite, since we have bought it already too.
Thanks again for your valuable information!
Best regards.
