Re: help! severe reaction to iv dmps

== Reply below Joe

I've just had an IV DMPS a few days ago (600 mg DMPS + 600 mg glutathione and 1 ml methyl-b12) and i was fine at first, actually slightly better the first day but by the next day the hell broke loose.

== I'm sorry to hear this but not at all surprised to hear occasional reports of this. I've been hearing them for years.

== The good news is that your symptoms are fairly consistent with what others have reported and they report improvement over time. A very close female friend is one--more below.

== In the Yahoo detox groups they consider getting a reaction to taking a mercury (Hg) chelator as further indication that Hg is indeed at least part of the person's problem.

my anxiety, which was really severe to begin with,

== very common symptom in the detox groups. My friend was nearly disabled by PTSD for decades but is much improved now.

magnified x10, it's been 5 days and it keeps getting worse, i am scared of everything, i can't breathe for most of the time, gasping for air and choking, especially at night.
out of nowhere i developed phobias, i can't be left alone.

== My friend was not quite that severe on a consistent basis but had all of those symptoms on occasion.

i have a fever, major flu like symptoms, sinus infection, headaches, joint and muscle aches and excrutiating lower back pain.

== The fever is no so commonly reported. I think you'll have to see a doctor.

i'm sweating all over just to shiver the next second.

== You'll learn that much of what you are experiencing is adrenal insufficiency along with lo magnesium. more later. I had some of that with my adrenal fatigue. You are fortunate that you still can sweat. You'll eliminate some toxins that way. My friend had lost most of her ability to sweat although that is slowly coming back. Interestingly my excessive sweating has been reduced.

i smell terrible, which is the least of my concern now but i thought i'd mention it.

== Not one of the more commonly reported symptoms but occasionally reported.

I have trouble holding urine

== Yep, that is likely adrenals and pituitary. Andrew Cutler says this is one of the better indications that someone has a Hg problem. People with a nasty Hg problem often have to wake a couple times per night to urinate. Learn about aldosterone and ADH.

and i am severely constipated, didn't have a bowel movement since the injection, even the laxatives on a triple of my usual dosage don't work.

== very commonly reported. Magnesium, fluids, vitamin C. I know someone who also adds crushed flax seeds to an AM smoothie.

i'm confused and i'm struggling with even writing this.

== If you were not I'd have been surprised.

I've been to the ER, they thought i'm having a panic attack and sent me home, despite explaining the situation and insisting that I AM NOT having a panic attack.

== You are having a panic attack. I'm surprised you did not receive some ativan or similar. It probably would have done you some good. The high stress you feel is not good for you. You'll think more clearly and give your adrenals some time to recharge.

The doctor who did the IV wasn't of any help too, he wanted to do another injection but this time with high dose vit c...

== Actually that is a good idea for those who tolerate vitamin C. It will help mop up the mobilized heavy metals.

i have reacted to oral vit c megadosing before, it made me very anxious so i declined.

== You need antioxidant asap! Cutler typically suggests a gram or so of buffered vitamin C with each meal and before bed.

== Vitamin E is a lipid soluble antioxadant to help protect your brain and organs.

== I think selenium is a must try in your situation, maybe 200-300mcg of selenium yeast or selenomethionine. This binds with the heavy metals and keeps them from fouling up other things. it also provides some protection for your thyroid glands.

== I'd go to the local pharmacy immediately and get those.

PLEASE HELP. is there anything i can do to make things better? perhaps very small dose of DMSA or ALA with FDC protocol, i'm talking start maybe 5 mg. i heard a lot of people combat the DMPS side effects this way.

== Please stay away from ALA for at least a number of days. It will most likely cause more of the symptoms in the short term. Your body almost certainly needs to heal from the beating it has taken from kicking up heavy metals too aggressively and without adequate antioxidant protection-- more on that in a future post.

I can't get DMSA in my country though and i can't wait a month to have it shipped to me from an an online store, by this time i will go insane. i can however get my hands on ALA, but isn't it risky in my condition?

== Yes! don't touch it in your condition!

I'll do ANYTHING to make it better.

== More below.

i read everything on DMPS backfired website and i wish i have seen it sooner!

== so true.

to think that i was planning to do the IV weekly..
doing research online is becoming nearly impossible to do as my brain is stopping to work.
here is where i need you, guys.
Do you know of any GOOD practitioner who could help me? preferably one who is aware of the DMPS danger.

== You could do a phone consultation with Julie Anderson, Cutler's nurse practitioner friend in Seattle. She's seen this countless times.
http://www.npjulie.com/ There are people in Frequent Dose Chelation at yahoo who have spoken to her.

For now I'm taking 2 grams of vit c, around 300 mg magnesium, about 450 mcg molybdenum and 30 mg zinc. pretty small doses as i'm scared to make things worse. What else can i add here?

== Those are a good start. Cutler's basic 4 also includes vitamin E--1000+ IU per day.

== You'll want to use an absorbable form of Mg such as glycinate.

== Epsom Salt is Mg sulfate, highly recommended but you might want to start with just a foot bath to test for tolerance.

== For anxiety, in addition to Mg, you could look for GABA at a specialty vitamin shop. If not available, Glutamine will be available in a shop that caters to athletes. You may need B6 with it. Actually a multi B is also recommended, however you'll need to determine if you are one of those who becomes *more* agitated with B12 and or folate (folic acid). I am one.

== The specialty vitamin shop might have low dose lithium supplements such as Li orotate. Even a partial capsule might take the edge off of some of the feelings. Eventually you can get hair or blood test to see if you are one of the fairly large number of people in detox groups who are low. A couple of friends and I are among them. It has a nice "chilled out" effect but won't be a fix-all for your situation.

== Eventually you'll likely need adrenal support, maybe adrenal *cortex* glandular or pregnenolone--10-20mg?--to start. Stay away from whole adrenal glandular since you likely don't need any more adrenaline!!

== Getting to a sauna might be helpful since you can sweat, but you need fluids, electrolytes--sodium, maybe potassium, magnesium. Hopefully your adrenals are not too weak for that.

== Eventually you'll probably want to get your adrenals and thyroid checked since they likely took a pounding from mobilizing Hg in a person with an Hg problem.

== Our group members will have more for you but in order to maximize your number of responses, you should also check out the larger Yahoo detox groups. You'll likely get a reply within an hour.

== You'll likely want to avoid stimulants in food--caffeine, high doses of sugar, phenols, maybe even foods high in sulfur/thiols that kick up Hg. Glutathione and NAC(cysteine) are examples.

== Possibly how adrenals (low cortisol) are involved.

== Your positive initial reaction to the
DMPS might suggest that it will be quite useful to you when used more conservatively, such as 10mg doses every 6 or 8 hours for a long weekend along with adequate antioxidant protection, etc--Cutler's protocol. Depending on where you live the folks at Livingnetworks might be useful to you. They have a good reputation in the detox groups.

== This was my close friend's reaction to taking too much ALA in a new formulation of a multi for 10 days. She also reported burning/tingling hands, feet and brain. She really melted down much like you and it took more than a year for her to largely recover from it.
