Re: What can eat away at muscles?
Several others on this site have worms which have migrated to their legs. I have had this also.
How to get the antihelminth medicine where you need it: For the calf muscle--Buy ivermectin paste and DMSO from your farm store. Make sure your leg is dry and very clean with no creams, oil or lotions. Apply about 1 turn on the dial of ivermectin and rub in gently. Pour about 1/4 teaspoon of DMSO into your palm and rub in on top of the ivermectin.
Let the DMSO soak in without wiping off. Wash hands with hot soapy water. Some might use rubber gloves to apply the DMSO.
You might experience the worm wiggling as it dies. This may work in only one application. If not, reapply daily.
I have used the same quantity of ivermectin (1 turn) mixed really well with 1 tablespoon of distilled water into a small syringe. I have used an ear syringe although there are rectal ones available. This is done at bedtime and left all night. Try not to get out of bed for awhile.
I have found rectal and topical application of ivermectin works quite a bit better than orally.
Keep us posted on your experience.
