One possible consideration is that increasing immunity forces the body into a stress condition. This will force the body to consume its own muscle to harvest protein, if you are not converting dietary proteins. This is known as cachexia. B vitamin deficiency can start this, particularly B12. Other things to consider would be a lack of digestive enzymes, minerals and other vital nutrients.
