Re: A plan to cure our Exfoliative Cheilitis - A realistic approach to the 'leave it alone' method
Hey buddy, I check this site every now and again to see how everyone is doing. Your thoughts, in theory, seem like they would work, however in practice it's very unlikely.
When I started curing myself by leaving them completely alone, and this was by not doing anything -ever- to them, I thought they would just stop building after a couple months. After I realized they were not slowing down the buildup, no matter how much I wanted to believe they were, I couldn't stop where I was because I had already given it so much effort.
What I realized when I quit leaving them alone was that the affected area had actually grown to parts of my lips that were not originally affected. It also spread to the outer area of my lips where your mustache grows, as you could see a lot of dead skin in that area.
I'm not sure what EC is to this day, but it's probably some sort of bacteria that spreads and by keeping your lips dry and alone it only creates a perfect environment for it to spread more.
I did not see any REAL results until I started leaving them alone with constant moisture. What this means is that I didn't rip off the skin, I just constantly applied a product like aquaphor to them. This eventually reduced all of the inflammation in my lips, and then after several months the lips kept peeling less and less.
I'm trying to save you a lot of time, which is why I created my site and took hundreds of pictures to document that leaving them completely alone does not work. So leaving them partially alone probably will not either.
Another thing to think about is, why are we so against putting things on our lips? Going swimming in the water or anything natural like that does nothing to our skin, and it's even recommended to wash wounds, not keep them dry, so if you haven't tried leaving them completely alone and applying something constantly to them, I would personally recommend it. As it cured me. And like I always add, I believe getting a lot of sun exposure on my lips helped me tremendously as well.
Of course you can try your method, but since you've been doing it for 6 months, and it's obvious you haven't had any real-true progress, perhaps it's not the correct method. Any method that is going to work should give you progress at least a month into it.
I wish you the best and hope you can become cured someday soon. If you haven't seen my site check it out with pictures and videos over the entire course from the beginning to the very end.
