Candida---source of irregular heartbeat.
In January of 2013, I made the committment to get healthy and joined a gym (Planet Fitness). I work in the landscape industry and am outside a lot in the heat. In June, I was driving a tractor and hit a bump and broke my elbow. A few weeks later, I started noticing palpations in my chest during workouts. I always carried aspirin with me in case of heart attack because I was 43 at the time. In August, I was out working and the outside temperature was about 60 degrees and I got really hot and had a racing heartbeat. I became very scared but didn't wanna go the doctor because they would put me on prescriptions for the rest of my life. I did some research and found that I was likely deficient in magnesium.
I have been taking 400-1000 mg a day for about 2 years. I did feel better but still had irregular heartbeats. These episodes seem to occur more commonly in the afternoon/evening and would scare me when I tried to nap or go to bed. After food journaling, I noticed that the irregular heartbeats would be less after I ate yogurt and would be worse after I ate sweets or lots of carbs. I began to think that I was having issues with my pancreas or diabetes although the symptoms didn't match.
This winter, I began having really dry skin on my hands and itching. I have heard about candida and last Saturday thought that I could have a systemic candida infection. I bought cocunut oil and yeast fend and took a big dosage of each. Within days, I noticed very painful urination and headaches but still had irregular heartbeats. I was scared that I was getting a bladder infection or something worse. After reading about candida die off, I read that these are common die off reactions. I did discover that candida infections burn excessive amounts of magnesium in the body.
This past weekend, I bought a high quality probiotic that contains 10 different strains of probiotics and took 4x the recommended dose. Now 3 days after taking the yeast fend and probiotics, the burning urination is about gone and have had ZERO episodes of irregular heartbeats for 2 entire days. I believe I am onto something and am going to continue this regiman. If anyone else has any mysterious health issue, I would investigate CANDIDA. I can't wait til I can finally say that the irregular heartbeats are gone and I can begin running again.
