Re: Immune deficiency and IVIG

I do Igg replacement therapy and have opted for subQ infusions at home - it keeps my levels stable and I have more control over the schedule of infusions.I have no qualms about getting other peoples antibodies - they are saving my life as my infection rate was severe and I would be dead without the treatment. Once you have been diagnosed with a Primary Immune deficiency you have to understand that this is something you can help with IgG replacement but your body is never going to get to the point where it is making enough on its own to work correctly and you will be classified as cured if you have any other missing pieces or complement deficiencies you will be ill more then normal people and a simple virus or infection can lead to a life threatening infection. You will have a greater need for Antibiotics thru out your life time so rotation and using the correct Antibiotic for the infection is needed. Keeping a healthy gut and digestive tract are super important for you -eat for health supplement nutrients add probiotics etc. The literature does say that PIs have a 50 fold increase of gastric cancer and more then the majority of gut health issues. I agree that alternative treatments can be integrated into your health but not that they will be able to replace your IgG therapy-Why not use both top your advantage understanding that both will benefit your health and hopefully allow for less infection rate in the future- Most PIs have a period of illness as children then it settles down and in mid life area begin to develop more reoccurrent infections poor health situation - your pattern is normal. It takes about one or two years for your body to respond and clear out residue infections once beginning IgG replacement- if you are able to have the treatment paid and that isnt your issue consider yourself lucky- people are dying to get coverage once diagnosed. There are certain alternatives that are not rec for PI's echineacha being one . I have done acupuncture , meyers IV therapy, infared saunas, massage supplements - do let your doctors know hat you are doing , do try to find a team of docs - perhaps a integrative clinic that has both traditional and holistic doctors.Consider doing home infusions as it regulates more even IgG levels thru out the month, have a plan for diagnostics rec for PIs - I did this to have a baseline of where my body was at once diagnosed doing blood work , mri etc so if and when problems arise you know where you started from , keep detailed records of your health - every lab result every letter and make sure your docs do as well, find a doc who is on your side 100% - one who wont argue or not listen to your issues - they will be the gatekeeper to other professionals - choose wisely keeping your future issues in mind, depending where you live there are organizations involved in advocating and supporting PIs - seek them out even if it is just to get information on what others are doing. I have found that there is a wide range of opinions on what PIs are doing to help support their health some do no alternative treatments some only believe in alternative options and everything in between. Your body is specific to you and you need to fiqure out what yours responds best too . good luck
