Re: Albendazole's mechanism of action

I have had bird mites for over four years. Last year I took Albendazole for four months and felt cured.

I did not realise that they were gone from everywhere except for the top of my feet. I can only assume this is because of poor capillaries, no sweat pores and the fact that this was the site of the Motherlode of nests.

So, to get rid of them there I am soaking my feet in slightly diluted ammonia for an hour a day.

I no longer want to take the Albendazole though it did get rid of every nest on my body and head.

My little dog also had the mites and he was takign Albendazole with me. He has since developed chronic lymphcytic leukemia.

I dont know if this is related, but I feel it is. Enough so that I am not willing to risk taking it again. I beleive if it did cause it, its because of dosage strength rather than long term use. I think he may have been given more than he needed. He is only 5kg.

I have now switched back to moxidectin once a day along with soaking the feet in ammonia which seem to drive them out.

Maybe if a 10mls dose was divided into 3mls three times a day, every eight hours, that will keep it in the system to paralyse them long term.
