Re: Anyone else Depersonalized?

A close female friend with decades of PTSD had that. Her situation was similar to this description.

I've not seen her do that in a couple of years which is a huge improvement. I'm not sure if there is one particular thing that was responsible since she changed a number of things around the same time.

She found an old hair test from when her health was at its worst that easily matched one of A. Cutler's "Rules" suggesting mercury was affecting movement--"transport"--of minerals in her body. She decided to take the supplements he recommends for people with her symptoms due to mercury's influence.

This certainly included adrenal support but also included various amino acids, especially GABA and the related amino acid gluatmine.

Getting her blood pregnenolone--grandmother of steroid adrenal hormones--back into the center of the normal range for her age might have been the biggest single factor but GABA and/or glutamine certainly helped noticeably and continue to do so.

She also decided to have her silver-mercury Amalgam fillings removed and chelated with DMPS + LA--Cutler's protocol.

She takes lots of other supplements, including generous amounts of magnesium, is careful with her diet, etc, so it could easily be due to a combination of factors.

One somewhat noteworthy area that she has not addressed much is acetylcholine support. Since other areas have improved I've been encouraging her to now add some acetylcholine support. It is too early to comment on possible effects.

Since she takes the supplements, low dose HC and observes the diet so consistently I don't know if she is healed or if the symptoms are just being managed. I doubt that she is entirely healed.

I've been very active in several heavy metal detox support groups for 5 years. We don't hear "depersonalization" and disassociation" reported too often but it is virtually always in the sickest members. Therefore be very careful about the steps you take. I would not just try supplements randomly without thinking it through carefully. I suggest that you avoid lipoic acid and cilantro--that's a long story but I'll go into it if you request.

I'm sorry that I don't have something more solid for you but you have some leads. If you have a list of hypo adrenal symptoms I think you'd be crazy for not exploring treatment options. You might check out this.

Just be aware that an HMO doctor might not be a good resource due to insurance reimbursements for this issue, etc. My friend's HMO endocrinologist did nothing for her for the 10+ years he was providing thyroid medication. A functional medicine or natural doctor probably would be a safer resource.

Good luck.
