anal itch - parasites or candida?

The worms thing is way over emphasized - my Doc said anal worm issues are quite rare, unless you live in a 3rd world country or dirty conditions where daily hygiene is a challenge. Problem is every damn site notes them as a possibility with almost equal status to infection and the symptoms are similar.

I have had a growing anal rash that progressively spread from my hole to my groin and thighs - my anus was swollen, red, burning and so itchy I could barely function, the only relief was scratching. I also had a wet discharge that kept everything moist, almost watery with a fishy smell but clear - and the stupid internet had me checking for worms.

Long story short and sparing the ugly details, the best thing you can do is go see a colon and rectal surgeon - mine examined me and said "Candida" right away, gave me a prescription, and in one day I feel 20% better; according to him It will be cured in a week. FYI I started going to him when I had an anal fissure, so it's been one hell of a journey so far. He also told me how rare it is for them to encounter worms as a cause of anything these days.

So ignore all the home remedies, forget the over the counter options as they only make things worse, and I bet you anything it's a Candida infection. Get yourself to a CRS, not a generalist, and get on the road to healing....trust me.
