Question about Betaine HCL supplementation

Hey guys. So it turns out I have candida, which in turn has caused very low stomach acid. I'm unable to digest proteins properly causing all kinds of problems from hair loss to fatigue, etc..

So I just started supplementing Capryllic Acid and Betaine HCL with Pepsin. I bought the highest dose Betaine HCL I could find (650mg), and read about the test you're supposed to do with your first meal, take up to as many tablets as it takes to induce a warm, hearburn feeling and then cut back one tablet.

So I'm actually up to 8 tablets now without feeling any effect in my stomach, no warm feeling people are describing, no heartburn of any kind. My question is, should I keep upping the dosage to see when it happens? It seems like going above 8 tablets a meal seems crazy at this level, the bottle says maximum daily dosage should be 12. Is it safe for me to keep going up to see when I actually feel this effect? Is it possible to not feel anything and still be taking the right dose?

I don't want to be wasting the pills if I'm taking too few of them. Thanks in advance.
