I think I may have cured myself

I believe I may have cured myself of a possible herpes infection. It has been 4 months now without any outbreaks/symptoms so it has not been quite long enough to say definitively, but I've never been symptom free for more than 3 weeks since it all first started.

And I am not 100% sure it was herpes either. I went to get screened for STDs in-between outbreaks and while there were clearly evident scars especially from the last sore the only test they can do which is accurate is to take a culture form an active open sore and have it tested. The regular herpes test is too board and since I already know I experienced cold sores since I was a child the broad test would not be able to prove my current situation is genital herpes. The tests did show I was clear of all the other STDs (syphilis, gonorrhea, etc.).

The doctor did say my description certainly sounds like genital herpes and the scars looked like what they would expect. Told me to come back to the office when I had my next outbreak to have the a sample taken from an open sore - but I never had to go back yet.

Up to this point I have been dealing with this crap for about 8 or 9 months trying many different alternative methods to heal it. Oregano oil, manuka honey, apple cider vinegar, iodine. Nothing seemed to really make the outbreaks stop.

I would usually get an outbreak every 4-5 weeks, and it would take up to 2-3 weeks for the new sore to start to heal, while the scars of old outbreaks lingered for 2 months or more. So I really never was outbreak free for more than 3 weeks at a time.

Anyway, after the doctor visit I felt like I wanted to try one last thing because I really dreaded having to go on some medication for the rest of my life, so I came up with my own hodgepodge nuclear option, which consisted of:

Daily: drink a cup of water with 6-8 drops Lugol's 5% Iodine solution + magnesium and zinc supplements with lunch.
Every other day: heat up a cup of water (PURE water! distilled or RO water - not bottled water and certainly not tap water) and mix in 1 Tbsp of magnesium sulfate (pure epsom salt) and 1/2 tsp Borax (12 mule team). I would then soak my penis in this mildly hot solution for at least 15 minutes, then gently pat dry. Shortly after drying I apply a thin glaze of manduka honey on the skin where the outbreaks usually occur.

I followed this for about 2 weeks and in the very beginning I did feel the early warning signs of a new outbreak coming but they subsided and never fully formed (first time that ever happened).

After that I would take maintenance soaks every week and still take Iodine a few times per week but I didnt take the supplements or apply the honey any more.

But I started that 4 months ago and have not had any symptoms since then. In fact the skin on my penis is so clear now it has not looked like this since before the outbreaks first started. I can just barely make out the signs of some scars if I examine closely.

So I just wanted to share this info and see if anyone else wants to try this and let me know if it helps. I am convinced my problem is solved but only time will tell, and I still do maintenance soaks every week or so to this day - they are easy to perform and feel good. Just make sure you start on an empty bladder because that heat sure gives you the urge to pee!

I think the key thing is the soak and perhaps internal Iodine at same time, not so sure the other stuff was a pivotal factor but like I said I was pretty desperate and wanted to try a bunch of things at once.
