Re: What does this Hakala bromide number really mean?
I've ingested about 400 grams of iodine in the past 8 years. Most of that was in the first two years. For the past 4 years, my total iodine consumption has been about 100 milligrams a week.
At first, for a mid-aged person, it is probably a good idea to do relatively large amounts, for a short time, to aid the body in knocking out bad accumulated stuff, but after that, my instinct told me to just take "maintenance" amounts. I personally believe large amounts for an extended time are un-natural and unhealthy.
The trick for many mid-agers is in the startup, taking large amounts to knock out accumulated toxins. It is like you found a 1938 Harley Davidson in grandpa's garage. Do you fire it up and immediately give it full throttle and rev the motor to the max ? Or, refurbishing an old vacuum tube radio from the attic, do we plug them in and turn them on to full voltage, or use a rheostat to slowly bring it up, so as to not burn out the electrolytic capacitors ?
Some old Harleys can take full throttle immediately, some old radios can take full voltage immediately, it just depends on the luck of the draw.
Bottom line is that over 90% of the population is way deficient in iodine, and overloaded with many toxins. That presents a puzzle. But, we're all going to die, sooner or later. In my case, I had already been through several life-threatening situations through which I'd prevailed, and the inconvenient bad feelings I got initially from taking iodine, didn't frighten me one bit. I knew it wasn't going to kill me. Had I been the type to whine and moan about my pains and my zits or whatever, I might have outletted it on a forum, but I'm just not that way. Sometimes I think people need to quit being such pu**ies about everything, not only relating to iodine supplementation, but other aspects of their lives. God didn't lead us to iodine, only to have it kill us. I know not one case where iodine killed anybody, ever. xxoo Luv ya Belle :)
