"Another outstanding article by Murray Dobbin. In a world gone increasingly mad I'm glad there are intelligent voices....voices of true wisdom like Mr. Dobbin's still being heard.
(I know some of you will be interested to know that Michael Harris's book on Harper is just coming out....here is the link to The Toronto Star review.....it is a must read in itself ....so is Harris's book....)"
"Excellent article, Mr. Dobbin. Keep up the good work.
You might have noted the U.S. sat by in Iraq and Syria for three years until ISIS captured the Mosul Dam. The dam supplies all electricity to Baghdad. And in the Green Zone in Baghdad we find the U.S.' s largest "embassy". This collection of buildings covers 18 football fields and has 5,000 employees. Not more than 25 are required to stamp the tourist visas for Iraqis who want to visit the U.S.
Like Bagram in Afghanistan and the $1.5 billion base built two years ago in Djibouti. the Iraq embassy is a centre for drone missions and electronic surveillance. The British empire had ports for its navy scattered around the globe. In the digital age, while the U.S. still has immense military hardware and a huge nuclear arsenal, centres for local control of done bombing and electronic surveillance are key.
A few beheadings were very convenient. The U.S. populace was brought to its feet, screaming for vengeance. And the only place to be taken from ISIS to date has been the Mosul Dam. The embassy is safe. The lights will stay on. And now the West will bomb Iraq back into the Neolithic while the Iraq military, which prizes life above all, hides in bunkers. I will not get started on the fiasco in Syria.
This is what happens when you elect an evangelical nut (but a mediocre nut at that) who makes the dogma of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church the federal legislative and policy agenda. Ted Cruz became prime minister of Canada and no one knew.
Harper will be recorded in the still short history of our nation as our worst and most destructive prime minister."
"This article is so totally bang on, it practically makes me weep. Dobbin hits the target on every count. This article should be mandatory reading for every Canadian with more than a handful of brain cells. Sadly, those so equipped are bloody-well nearing extinction."
..I might add, mandatory reading for every AMERICAN with more than a handful of brain cells. Sadly, those so equipped are bloody-well nearing extinction.
