Re: Please advise iodine chnging personality

Or, maybe it's just this...

Your husband was almost crushed to death one day in a horrible accident where 3 people died, but had a guardian angel sitting on his shoulder named Iodine that acted fast to save his life... and after witnessing that event, he decided that from this day forward, he wanted to make some much needed changes in his life. The fact that his father passed away from a heart attack at age 37... and his doctor just gave him a shiny new CPAP machine to sleep with because he's overweight and developed sleep apnea could be a reason too?

Maybe the clique at work are all people from the same backwoods county who carpool an hour and a half to work in the city at a new charter school... and maybe he happens to be the youngest in the group! The next youngest is 6 years older than him and everyone else is in their late 40s-50s and they hang out in gyms because one of them runs a competition gymnastis team and everyone else brings their kids to learn... or they come themselves 2 nights a week to learn aerial acrobatics as a form of yoga because it is something new and exciting and they can take the classes for free?

Maybe he is a little awkward and met his much older and insecure wife playing world of warcraft online because that's all he knows, which dominated his life and now he wants more for himself and more for his son... who was raised on the same bad habits? What if his son is bullied in school for being overweight and socially awkward and he wants to be on the figure skating team (tons of boys are) so he can get in a good workout and learn to skate like a bad ass and play ice hockey with the jr league some day? Maybe he will even want to compete someday or participate in an ice show? Imagine that... having actual friends who are real people and not an avatar on a computer screen or playstation game... and having to do a LOT more than push some buttons on a controller... and you get to win real trophies, get your picture in the paper and do something REAL! Being a guild leader on an online RPG is NOT an accomplishment!

Maybe his personality changed.... maybe he feels GOOD for once, is more positive about life and actual smiles and engages with people more. Maybe he is more aware of what his body is trying to tell him and he is trying to break the destructive cycle?

Maybe yesterday was a school trip to the Renaissance fair, in which all school staff, including non essentials like the IT guys had to attend in order to keep tabs on 200 kids? Maybe a $3 million budget cut doesn't allow for employees to bring their spouses or for kids to bring their parents (unless their parents work for the school), but someone had an extra ticket and his non enrolled child got to go in their place?

You should be happy that he's "eating vitamin pills" and "drinking iodine" - I know that I would like to keep the people that I love around a lot longer... but you sound scared... not for him, but for YOU. Why?
CNAs don't count as being "nurses" and if you had any knowledge about the human body or health in general, then you would encourage his transformation and your son's.
Keeping him isolated, overweight and unhealthy seems to benefit you more than him...
Why don't you join them?? You don't have to supplement with iodine, shop at Whole Foods (try feeding a family of 6!) or anything else to make changes.
Unplug your crap, throw out your microwave and GO for that bike ride. That in itself is a huge change.
