Re: ID this parasite -- fluke or tape?
I've read about rope worms and have even done a bit of Volinski's and Kalcker's protocols but I'm not 100% sure whether rope worms are really a separate kind of
parasite or not. I've read the "research" about them and their DNA and I'm not saying they don't exist...I'm just not sure.
But beyond that -- I've passed things that look very "ropey" and this doesn't look like those -- it's completely flat. The curling in this one is like the curling you'd see with a ribbon or something -- it's not "ropey" like the rope-looking things I passed.
So even if rope worms are a separate entity, I don't think this is a rope worm since it's completely flat and they only
parasites I know of that are flat are either flukes or tapes, but I'm doubting more and more whether it's a tape. So if it is a fluke, it's not a typical liver fluke (I used to have them -- maybe still do -- and they, of course, don't look anything like this).
Anyway, thanks for your input.
