Re: Slightly o/t but maybe relevant?

Alpha lipoique acid (ALA) and gluthation serve as a kind of "lure" attracting a portion of heavy metals, they will limit their toxicity on the "noble molecules" and re-establish certain metabolisms, even those in which they are also implicated.

ALA with 2 sulfur bridges is hydro and lipo soluble, regerenates glutathion and can catch Hg in brain and drag away.

ALA is created in the body from L-Cystein with the help of vit. B2, B3 and B5, Cystein is rather critical, like for gluthation, that s why some supplementation is useful not only for nice and thicker hair...

A smooth detoxification can be done in 2 phases, at the beginning with vit. C (2-3 gr.) you clean the extracellular space - blood, lymph, then you start to attack heavy metals, more difficult to reach as they are deeply installed inside your grease and nervous tissus - with ALA a molecule soluble in lipids.

ALA can do this profound work much better once these permanently circulating heavy metals in blood are already eliminated with the help of vit. C.

This complexity of action at different levels needs association of several other nutriments Mg, Se, OPC, CoQ10.

I found this very efficient in the long term and it is free of heavy secondary effects of detox, which is not the case of DMPS, EDTA, TMD, penicillamine etc.
