Re: Can you smell TMAU on your body. Any smells and how do you know if you have this condition?

I too have self diagnosed TMAU and yes I can actually smell the odor on my person. I have different odors ranging from ammonia (the most predominate) to garbage to fish odor. I've tried diet changes, supplements and numerous doctor's visits. While I've had some successes they have been short lived; nothing permanent.

My suggestion to you is to see a doctor first and foremost. If for example certain foods make your odor worse I would avoid those or only consume them on the weekends if you're not at school or at work. Also experiment with soaps and deodorants to see which ones work the best.

You'll want something that's low PH in the range of 5.5 or lower. Any soaps, deodorants or lotions with a PH higher than 5.5 can cause the odor to worsen as you sweat. Good luck to you. Let us know how things are going for you.
