Parasites, Medicine
Hey guys I have been browsing this site for years now! I am 27 and recently had some severe health issues that caused me to drop out of school and work at 24 and try to figure out what was going on. I am diagnosed mild hypothyroidism.
I ahve OCD and ahve had it since childhood.
My question today is: I have practically begged my primary care docs for a stool test a year ago, I took a test and came back positive for endolimax nana. I lost insurance and was told it was benign anyway. A year later I still have pain in my upper right quadrant right below rib cage and constant abdominal cramps. I went to a gastro who did a colonoscopy and endoscopy and said your healthy didnt even ask about parasite... so my pain continues I have had occasional diahhrea my whole life and constipation as a child.
So I got insurance again and asked doc for another test, this time came back positive for endolimax nana and diantameoba fragillis. Keep in the mind that whole year I was gluten free and ate very clean and took innumerable herbs and
coffee enemas and flushes and such for treatment but alas the
parasites still came back positive. So I am over my stigma of conventional medicine and willing to try treatment. I ahve 3 days of tinidazole and 7 days of paromomycin to follow it up.
Question is I have read so much about liver flukes and such should I empirically treat those first and then take medicine for protozoans or vice versa? I have seen many things that look like flukes in stools but very well could just be undigested food particles. Is empircal treatment with praziquantel dangerous?
Thank you for all your help!
