I have also suffered from Depression and anxiety for most of my life. Things that have really helped me deal with childhood abuse and trauma are: the Holosync meditation technology program (www.centerpointe.com) and Karol K. Truman's life-changing books "Feelings Buried Alive Never Die" and "Healing Feelings from the Heart". Another gem is "Legacy of the Heart: The Spiritual Advantages of a Painful Childhood" by Wayne Muller.
On a physical level, I follow a specific diet for my Metabolic Type and have done extensive cleansing (bowel, liver, gallbladder). Grass fed beef and other sources of Omega 3 Fats are very important to balanced brain chemistry. For me, I also find I tend towards SAD and have noticed I really need some exposure to the sun. This winter I will go to a tanning salon just for some UV exposure so my Vit. D levels don't plummet. I also protect myself as much as possible from ELFs - no microwave oven in our house!! I don't watch TV and am careful what music I listen to. There is too much negativity from the mass media so I try to avoid the news as much as possible. Hormones can also play a huge role in moods. Too much estrogen and not enough progesterone is a very common problem for women these days. Getting that balanced can work miracles for depression.
I have done so many other things as well for relief but the ones I have written about above are what comes to mind at the moment. Good luck!!
