MRI scan for scattered parasites
My daughter goes for her MRI tomorrow and there's been talk here about CAT and MRI scans and how reliable they would be as a diagnositic tool for people who have a scattered infections.
They sent me this brochure with the steps (they're knocking her out with propafol so she doesn't move and mess up the image, yikes!) and sample pboto scans. If you google MRI scans you can also see pictures and samples.
CAT scans look like xrays, so they're lowquality... but an MRI can look deeper inside. I would think if someone has a
Tapeworm on the brain it would definitely show up. Those who are more familiar would know better than I would but I think
Tapeworms are encased in fluid or maybe I'm thinking about cysts, not sure but of the ones I saw online, there was no missing them on the scan and they didn't appear to be crawling through the brain... just floating in the fluid around the brain. But, if someone had somethinng in a muscle or other tissue, I don't think any scan would be able to pick that up.
When
parasites scatter, can they go anywhere, like under the skin of hands and feet, or do they just bust through the muscle? When people say they feel it in arms and legs, is it something that moves under the skin or following some kind of system like lymph or blood circulation? Or both?
I'm trying to understand the whole process more.
