1000mg of Magnesium Citrate...still constipated

So my doctor has suggested that I probably have a magnesium deficiency based on the following symptoms:

- muscle cramps, aches, pains
- weakness
- fatigue
- photo sensitivity, light sensitivity
- blurred vision and irritated eyes
- constipation
-brain fog
-acne
- gluten intolerance

etc.

So today I have taken 1000mg of magnesium citrate throughout the day..which is quite a lot. And yet, I haven't had ANY diarrhoea whatsoever. I haven't been at all. And it's been way longer than 6 hours which is usually the maximum amount of time needed to get diarrhoea from taking magnesium citrate (most people get it immediately).

So...does this mean I'm seriously deficient in magnesium? My doctor only recommended 500-600mg per day so i'll go back to that tomorrow.

Should I be warned of any other vitamins/minerals that good be unbalanced with too much magnesium? Or any other deficiencies that could cause my problems?

I definitely feel more calm and relaxed after taking the magnesium but that's about it. It just seems strange to me that I'm still constipated after 1000mg of magnesium citrate...
