I got a similar reaction from taking liquid Lugol's (as opposed to Iodoral) and it's because I have Candida.

Taking the liquid Iodine painted my GI tract, killing off a bunch of Candida and releasing toxic by-products.

The solution was to take some activated charcoal. I took 4 and the symptoms all but disappeared.
