I had the same reaction to
Lugol's as mjj0062. If you have a bad reaction to Lugols, taking more is crazy.
I decided to switch from 6.25 mg Iodoral (1/2 of a 12.5 mg tablet) to potassium
Iodide tablets, because I had taken potassium
Iodide tablets a few years ago and only had a minor reaction. Instead of ordering the tablets I tried to use the
SSKI I made years ago but never used much. I started with one drop. I have been taking to or three drops a day for several days now. I was reviewing some of the
Iodine posts on Curezone awhile back and found that a drop of
SSKI is 30mg!
Many people here have posted having bad reactions to Lugols. They are never taken seriously and\or told to take more iodine. It is obvious to me that some people can only tolerate trace amounts of elemental iodine. So why force them to take more? The default protocol for
Iodine should be changed to
SSKI only for internal use. Elemental
Iodine should only be used in trace amounts internally. The dosage should only be increased if it is tolerated.
I also had problems tolerating selenium. If you find that you can't tolerate selenomethionine, or selenium tablets, try liquid selenium. It will allow you to regulate the dose to something you can tolerate.
Source Naturals makes a 32.5 mg potassium
Iodide tablet. If that is too much, you may be able to divide the tablet. Or you could make SSKI and dilute with water to get a dosage you can tolerate. co-factor supplements are also very important.
