Women Topic: Very Interesting Discussion
Refreshed, have you ever heard of this interpretation before about women being silent in church concerning the verses in 1 Corinthians 14? I never have and it makes perfect sense to me. It really does fit in the context of the whole chapter and whole Bible. I think he is right. What do you think? Did you listen to the video?
Why would Paul try to put women under a law of any kind when he was so against it in other verses? Why would Paul tell women to be silent when he named women in other verses that were laboring with him in the work of the gospel? Why would Paul tell women to be silent when it was prophesied in the old testament that in the end times women would prophesy? Prophesy means to speak out of the inspiration of God. It does not necessarily mean foretelling the future. It means women speaking. This can and I believe it to be sermons among other things. Why would God call women to be ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ if He inspired Paul to command women to be silent in church? God would not call women to be ministers if they are to remain silent.
These verses have caused some to believe that Paul was a false teacher. These verses have caused some to believe that the books that Paul wrote were not inspired of God. These verses have caused some to believe that the books that Paul wrote should not even be in the Bible. These verses have caused some to disbelieve the inerrancy of scripture. I know better than to think that. I know that when there seems to be a contradiction in scripture that it means we need to do a deeper study of the subject in the context of the whole Bible to find our answers. I believe there is no contradiction in scripture.
I have been praying recently for God to reveal the meaning of these verses because they never made sense to me before. I believe this revelation of this scripture is an answer to my prayer.
What do you think, Refreshed? This women being silent in the church teaching was a false teaching of the Corinthians, not Paul. Paul was correcting them. He was telling them that women are not to be silent. He was telling them not to put women under a law. Wow, satan must really be happy with all the false beliefs about women that have come from these verses. Look at the number of God's children that have believed that and have not spoken the gospel when God wanted them to speak. Look at the number of people that could have heard the gospel if women would have been allowed to speak. Thank God for the women that obeyed the call of God anyway using other scriptures about women to back up what God was calling them to do.
Refreshed, what do you think about this? Does this make sense to you too?
