Yes it makes sense.. Some peoples' bodies are so messed up that they are unable to absorb the Iodine so it comes out in the urine giving the first impression that your body has sufficient stores when in reality youre unable to absorb it in the first place. Similarly think how some people cant absorb Vitamin B-12 properly.. same sort of thing.

Like the other poster said you just have to listen to your body. Use your body as a guide..

Your doctor should be ordering an antibody test (TPO) for your blood test. See if you have an autoimmune problem before taking mass quantities of iodine.. if your lump in your throat feels like a goiter I would recommend backing off the iodine...

Of course without bloodtests you are in the dark here. Its true that heavier doses of Lugols get rid of many peoples' detox effects.. however you may want to back off until you get blood test results to ensure you arent damaging yourself. If youve had this condition for years a few more weeks or months wont kill you.. In the meantime change your diet up to include sources of Iodine and selenium.. i find pickled herring to be wonderful.. kelp, sardines, etc.

Also good nutrient dense foods are terrific to give your body the tools it needs to heal and correct itself.. Foods like raw honey, blackstrap molasses, cruciferous vegetables and fresh fruits...stay away from foods that will deplete your vitamin and mineral stores - White Sugar , white salt, white flour, enriched breads, fortified cereals, coffee, alcohol, etc.

I firmly believe that the most important thing isnt so much eating the good food as it is to not eat the bad foods that literally steal nutrition out of your body and cause it to go out of whack as your body scrambles to work with what little nutrition youve left to it.
