Sounds good! It isn't *exactly* NLP,(I don't think) but a statement of intention. Whatever you call it, it sounds like a good plan.
As for the cool cloth on the forehead, it does work. I have done that, but with cold packs from the fridge, wrapped in a towel. The forehead has neuro-vascular points that are very calming when you draw the blood to that fore-brain. You can even just hold you hand across your forehead, but it is more tiring than the cool pack.
