If your community does not put fluoride in your drinking water and if you live fairly close to the ocean or have other source of iodine, I would not expect that to be the biggest factor. You still might benefit from supplementing modest amounts.
I've heard that the price of the formerly well regarded Metametrix test doubled after they were bought out. This seems to be fall out from the liberal medical system imposed in the US. Smaller labs are being bought out. More people will likely want to use labs that work with their insurance.
