I have had the same experience. I had my Mirena removed 15 months ago and I am not back to normal by any means. In fact, alot of symptoms got worse when I removed it. (I had both types of IUD in for a total of 9 years unfortunately, Mirena for the last 5 years) About a month after removal, I started to swell up periodically and retain water, as if I was 8 months pregnant!! And I am always bloated and puffy, 40 lbs. weight gain, unable to lose any weight. And of course, all of my tests done at the docs office always come back normal. (aside from being extremely vit D deficient) According to the doctors, I am the picture of health! HA! I have felt bad most days for a couple of years now. I was really hopeful that removing the IUD would reverse the effects...but, even at 15 months later, I am still dealing with it :( It is very disheartening. I have been searching for things to help balance me again and get my body back to normal. So that I can feel normal again. But nothing has worked so far. Several doctors all tell me there is nothing wrong and it couldn't possibly be Mirena. I don't understand why they don't take this all seriously? I guess I am still hopeful that my body will correct itself also. I have a huge gambit of symptoms. Worst of all is that I am always tired, not feeling well and unable to lose weight. Not myself at all. And I am only 34. I feel like a 60 year old woman would. I really want other women to know, never to have Mirena inserted!! Tweet
