Re: calcium
"A blog reader told me that she threw away her adult diapers after taking ReMag, magnesium for only 3 months. She had needed the diapers for about 6 years and was ecstatic about her liberation from them.
She figured that the calcification of her bladder tissues and bladder sphincter was dissolving with this well-absorbed magnesium. I agree.
Her story made me think of the French magnesium researcher Delbet who I quote in my Magnesium Miracle book. He said, way back in the 1920s that with age, the body's tissues have three times more calcium than magnesium, and he concluded that magnesium deficiency plays a role in senility.
What do we know about calcification? Many people have heard about the aortic valve becoming calcified, or a calcified abdominal aorta rupturing. I talk about breast tissue calcification being misdiagnosed as DCIS (a precancerous condition). Calcium spurs on the vertebrae or in joints are simply called arthritis.
In my Invisible Minerals Part I (Free under the FAQs at RnA ReSet you can read the section - Excess Calcium Depletes Magnesium. Under Calcium Dosage, learn why I'm not a big fan of calcium. You can triple that concern if calcium is an underlying cause of aging.
We didn't learn about either the good or bad effects of minerals in medical school. This let doctors set the standard for calcium being the main treatment for osteoporosis to the detriment of millions. Back in the 1920's Delbet had already determined that calcium excess and magnesium deficiency plays a role in aging and we just magnified that problem a thousand-fold by jumping on the calcium bandwagon. Now we know that calcium supplements cause heart disease - because they deposit calcium in the arteries. But calcium doesn't stop here and deposits in most other tissues in the body.
In medical school we were taught to worship the One Thing that causes a condition and the One Drug that treats it. So, the 700-800 enzyme systems that magnesium is responsible for is too overwhelming a concept for doctors to embrace. You know how their eyes glaze over when you get to your third or fourth complaint and they tell you to make another appointment.
Doctors line up each of your symptoms with a drug, even though they may all be caused by too much calcium and not enough magnesium! In my medical training I learned to use drugs only when necessary for only as long as necessary. Using strong medications with dozens of side effects as preventive measures was never an option. Now it's the norm."
