Probiotics, why do they always work for a few days then stop?

I've received some good advice thus far on the few topics I've made here and there, and I intend to pursue their suggestions, I had just one last concern about something.

I've read a lot of conflicting information, here, the web...everywhere, twice, when it comes to probitoics. I really wanted to believe they could help me out, but after a month of trying a Acidophilus & Bifidus 10 million combination, having maybe three decent days, I'm right back where I started.

This ALWAYS happens with probitiocs for me, they work for a few days then stop and my symptoms seem to get worse.

Naturally I intend to stop, I only tried them on doctors advice after finishing a round of Antibiotics for SIBO, so I wasn't trying these willy nilly I'ver followed everything everyones told me to do and I still feel awful.

My symptoms are, (in order of worst offenders) constant right quadrant pain, beneath my rib and around my belly button. It used to be a cramping/gnawing gripping sensation, but has since become a more uncomfortable stingy/sour/sore prickly pain...like someones jabbing a fork in my stomach. When it doesn't hurt this way, it's a crawly/sore almost itchy sensation, though it's on the inside, not the out. I always have pain/gas/discomfort before BM's, which are usually hard to pass...occasionally I'll get a queasy feeling before having to go and it will be loose. Some days I go up to 6-8 times in the first hours of the day...and I don't know how or why this is, I practically have to starve myself because food only makes my symptoms worse so i barely eat, and I hardly have an appetite anymore.

I started having a sharp cramping pain on my left side before BM's that started after my first round of Antibiotics a few months ago, and though I've been off them for over a month it still does this constantly. I've had all the general tests, diagnosed with gastritis, GERD, acid reflux, IBS...which are really just symptoms, not a diagnosis of anything.

Other thing I've been trying is Apple cider vinegar, three times a day
slippery elm, 3 caps two times a day
fennel seed for gas...not much help really.
I tried schiff digestive advantage for gas, didn't do anything either.

I'm scheduled to see my gastro doctor again but I'm certain they won't be able to do anything...last visit they just told me to take more or less fiber, and more or less laxative...

I'm just a wreck, I apologize if this isn't entirely the appropriate board but every time I have an episode now I just fall apart, I get panic attacks can't focus, get so depressed I just want to die...It's so selfish and awful of me to think that way but living life with these kind of debilitating issues is no life at all, so what's the point? I've gone through two and half years of this steadily getting worse, had my gallbladder out one year ago next month and that only made things worse for me it seems. I keep losing weight, I'm scared not being properly nourished, everything either goes through me too quickly or isn't digesting well enough so I'm not getting anything from the food I eat anyways.

I'm sorry, I know a few of you have pipped up for me and I mean to pursue those methods, but I don't understand why don't the probitics help? I hear such good things about them, they're not doing anything!
