Re: Age-Related Question
I did my first Master Cleanse last year right around my 51st birthday. I also have fibromyalgia and suffer from pain every day. I don't see any problems with an "older" (hate that term) person doing
Master-Cleanse as long as it is done wisely. Your friend needs to stop consuming caffine at least two weeks before beginning MC. Otherwise the extreme withdrawal headaches will probably keep her from completing the fast. I would recommend she do at least two weeks on a vegetarian diet and eliminate all refined foods, sugar, caffine, transfats, meat and dairy from her diet during this period. She needs to eat a lot of raw fruits and vegetables to begin the detoxifcation process.
I think she should limit her fasting time to ten days at a time, although she could probably repeat the ten day fast every other month to help control her weight. Also,if she has any blood pressure issues, it is critical that she does NOT do the salt water flush. My blood pressure skyrocketed to dangerous levels twice when attempting the
SWF (Salt-Water-Flush) and I will no longer do one or ever recommend it to anyone else. An enema is a much better way to flush toxins no matter what the book advocates.
I have done three ten day or longer MCs and lost over thirty pounds. Although my Fibromyalgia is not cured, the pain is not as intense and I can now work again. I have altered the traditional
Master-Cleanse to better fit my own needs, so I rarely post my current experiences with it, but I still do short cleansing fasts with lemon juice and Sucanat (rather than Maple syrup) and believe this is a good way to detoxify.
