Yes exactly--like the prostate for example. If there was a way to trigger an awakening of "all" cells to the signature molecules of the invader, it might cause a built-in response that could see the complete elimination of the target.
This is possible, but dangerous. The same phenomenon could eliminate cancer cells...like a default button.
It's like the body has "sleeper" capability that is only activated by very specific stimuli, like some kind of archaic code.
The problem with this is, once it it turned on, it could have unpredictable results.
