How long before sex do you recommend painting the loins?

I've tried this twice with 20 drops of 2% Lugols mixed with a little grapeseed oil.

The first night I did it around 7pm - NO results after 3 hours.

The second night I tried it around 6pm and NO results before falling asleep but I woke up around 3am with some SERIOUS wood.

Seems hit or miss.

Any input?
