Re: Dr. Weil skeptical of AF
Yes, we know that AF is not recognized by conventional medicine empirically. This is the equivalent to saying that conventional medicine DOES NOT recognize Bi-Polar disorder (of course they do now, but at one time...).
HPA axis dysfunction is recognized, however.
Regardless of the mechanism responsible for HPA axis dysfunction (whether Hypothalamus, pituitary, or adrenals or combination) it is known and recognized.
Whether the adrenals can actually fatigue or not is the question, which I believe is your argument, correct? I believe, whether they are fatigued or not, they lose some ability to keep up with the demand placed on them.
"I strongly advise against taking any supplements that contain adrenal glandular tissue. (In fact, never take any over-the-counter glandular supplements.) "
This I agree with as the concerns arise to whether or not this supplementation will atrophy the adrenal glands similar to the testicals in steroid use (extreme example).
"If you feel that you're under stress and need a lift, I recommend taking a multivitamin with B-complex vitamins, as well as cordyceps and tonic herbs such as American ginseng or Eleuthero ginseng. In addition, try relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, yoga or biofeedback to help reduce the stress itself."
What to do when those don't work?
