that is because you haven't seen good ones, they fluoresce different colors, most that are around now are not as pretty as most of the pulled sapphires, because the really good ones are hard to find now, and not cheap. American goldsmithing is really lost, most of it has been melted. But the things made between 1940-1970 were lovely.
