John Todd was not quite as eloquent but expressive and to the point nonetheless. He did not cite the example of jewelry. When he made the statement in the 70's, pop /rock albums and the collection of covers thereof were a bling of sorts for that era. He spoke of the "mastering" process used by the big producers and the special room they had on the top floor ... grooves of sounds were not the only effect being impressed onto vinyl.
