Gymnema sylvestre for systemic candida - Whole herb or standardized extract?

Hi everyone,

This new study http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0074189 looks really promising for preventing the yeast going into the hyphae form and if it is, it can convert it back to yeast form.

Gymnema Sylvestre is normally sold as a standardized extract containing usually about 25% gymnemic acids but I've seen it anywhere from 23-75%.

I wanted to buy the whole herb in bulk as it's much cheaper. Does anyone know how much gymnemic acid on average would be in the whole plant? Any herbalists out there?

I want to know if taking the whole plant would help my systemic candida or if it's not worth it and to buy the standardized extract instead. Or could I just take more of the whole plant to make up for the standardized extract? It seems a dose of standardized would be 1/8 - 1/4 tsp or 400-600mg. MAYBE I COULD TAKE A TEASPOON OF THE WHOLE PLANT?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Cheryl
