Re: Root canal treatment through crown ?????

hi Josh
I figured being an expert in your field you may be able to give me some advice.
I have recently had an abscess under a crown, gone through a course of Antibiotics , had a swollen face and very painful! finished the course and it has now subsided.
I have read that Antibiotics are not effective in the long term
Having visited my dentist and had an xray there is still a small amount of infection, this I assume will recur again and the infection will not go completely away and the only option will be to have root canal treatment rather than wait for the inevitable to occur again?
My dentist just said he would monitor the situation.
I would not want to go through another course of Antibiotics !
thanks in advance
Gavin
