Some advice on iodine and children please

I am doing well on the Iodine protocol now myself but need advice on giving it to my children.

I have a 9 year old girl with sinus problems, some ADHD symptoms and allergies. I also have a 5 year old boy with allergies, bad asthma and some eczema. I know this was probably the wrong thing to do but I have just got them a kitten – kind of a treat for them as my husband and I have just separated – but of course they are both getting allergy symptoms now. I may have to get rid of the cat but don’t really want to just yet. I read how Iodine can help with allergies so I am hoping to have some luck with this.

Anyway I have been dosing the kids with Iodine intermittently for about a month now. My son I give 1 drop Lugol’s and my daughter I give 2 drops Lugol’s. They have Selenium and Vit C and Magnesium and I salt their food wherever I can. Trouble is that I have yet to see any improvement, probably because as soon as I see some detox sign I stop for a few days as I am scared for them and I don’t want to put them through anything unpleasant. My son for instance seems to get puffy eyes after a couple of days on the iodine and last time they got a bit infected but have cleared now as I have stopped. And my daughter got a bad chest infection the first time I started the Lugol’s.

Both my children have very low basal body temps, 35.6 and 35.9 but both are very skinny, my son overly so. I am most worried about him as he is not robust. No pain tolerance, gets hurt easily and has a low stress threshold, loses the plot quickly and gets very frustrated with things. I have taken him to several doctors and he has been on a host of supplements but none have ever mentioned anything about his adrenals or thyroid.

They eat healthily, lots of organic fruit and veges, green smoothies and I cook from scratch, no processed junk food. I am wondering if my son is lacking in sodium now as all the fruit and veges would mean he would be high in potassium but perhaps not enough salt??

Anyway any advice on the iodine protocol for kids would be appreciated.
