Hi ICU, You seem to be very knowledgeable, hope you can steer me in the proper direction. My 6 year old daughter has pinworms. All the classic symptoms and I saw them on her bottom at night with a flashlight. She is very good, will not scratch her bottom and scrubs around her nails every time she uses the restroom. The doctor prescribed Albenza one 200mg tab and repeat in 2 weeks. She started itching on day 10. So I gave her the next pill on day 10. She had symptoms again 2 days later. I took her back to the Dr. prescribed 1 200mg pill once a day for three days. Now I wait because I'm going to repeat this 3 day treatment starting on day 9, given what previously happened. I'm not waiting 2 weeks. I read on the dosing info for Albenza its one 400mg tab for pinworms not a 200mg pill and I'm terrified they are going to come back before day 9. I apologize if this sounds dramatic but I have been fighting pinworms that the medicine cannot cure for 3 years and I'm afraid she's going to end up like me and it breaks my heart. I ordered the mebendazole from an Australian pharmacy and will begin your protocol hopefully with better results as soon as it arrives. I had no idea I was to take it with a fatty meal and chew it, maybe that has been my problem all along. Any advice you can give me would help greatly. Thank you so much!
