Just a general note about single cellular parasites.

These types of creatures are very diverse, and in some cases there is no "cure" if they become parasitic, as opposed to pathogenic.

I will use my case to explain. My parasite lives primarily in the gut, but has reach in other body tissues. Depending on where the parasite manifests itself, is largely dependent on the type of tissue or cells it infests.

The cysts located in the gut (identified through stool exam) are multifunctional, and possess a diverse distribution of genetic material, and can adapt to changing environs.

The cysts are basically two phenotypes (like sperm and egg)which work together to produce a final product. There is also host-cell involvement to manufacture needed resources, which may even include induced immunological events.

The side effects of all of this can create co-infections which may or may not last in the long term.

My particular parasite, is designated a type of plasmodium which has genes from 2 of the worlds most significant malarial parasites.

The cysts release very small (bacterial sized sporozoites) which can invade specific cells; although I have not seen them in red blood cells very often.

They have very complex life cycles, and can remain in the body forever. Symptoms are minimal, but annoying, and co-infections and (immunologically induced dysbiosis) can cause IBS.

The interesting thing about these parasites, is the similarity to infective fungi.
I believe there is also an integration of human genes or mitochondrial transfer, which occur, although I have yet to confirm this with phylogenetic testing.

Bottom-line, there is no modern ability to remove these from the body, anymore than a cure existing for toxoplasma gondii or chronic malaria (Sodium hydrochlorite?? debatable).

There may be researchers who are approaching success, but practical applications are way off into the future I think.

The purpose of this post, is to try and put things into perspective for those who may think some doctor has away of prescribing a medication, or combination of medications to rid you of these types of infestations.

As a researcher, I have some ideas for a treatment, but a cure is only a dream at this point.
