wondering : what was first? high estrogen levels or iodine deficiency?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
i never had my estrogen levels checked.
But the cause of my severe PMS is actually high estrogen levels right?
(i m so unfamiliar with hormons and all that stuff!!! its so complicated :O)
i read a bit.... but i could probably spend months (like i did on iodine) and still know only a little....
WELL.... i for sure have plenty of symptoms. Probably since years which i never connected with
Iodine deficiency but the worst thing which i have since being vegan is those PMS symptoms : breast-swelling 7-14 days before my period, lumps in my breast (well my breast was always lumpy but 2012 (sad diet) it only hurted 1-2 days before my period...NOT 7 or 14 !!!) Another thing r those itchy legs which i have since september 2013 (being vegan for about 11 months) .
I just mention the vegan thingy to be complete. But u lots are not vegan (i d guess) and still have issues. So i really dont think that veganism itself causes
Iodine deficiency ... i mean EVERY diet causes
Iodine deficiency.
But now back to hormonal stuff.
I know the thyroid controls (maybe the wrong word) all glands etc in the body (xcuse my english. i m trying my best). So it also has to do with estrogens (as the boss of all glands... right ???)
But now i was wondering if i got estrogen overload due to being vegan (maybe???) .... or if the iodine deficient vegan diet (no meat or dairy which could include iodine) could have caused my thyroid to totally shut down and that that caused estrogen to explode.
I just wonder what was first. Or if it is even possible that estrogen-overload (raised estrogen levels) were first. Or if iodine-deficiency and therefor resulting hypothyroidism is always the first issue and then of that...resulting : estrogen levels raising????????
I hope i do make sense
I have found some sources which say now that high estrogen levels cause Hypothyroidism. Estrogen stops FT3 from working (or something like that).
citation by Kresser : " Excess estrogen can cause hypothyroid symptoms by decreasing levels of active T3."
so what was first ... the egg or the chicken ?
the raised estrogen levels or the thyroid issues?
i ve actually found this right now :
