Hep C treatment questions

Trying to get info from any one who has been through or tried the hep C treatment. My friend has hep c - undiagnosed for many years now has diabetes and some cirrohsis of the liver. Docs are saying he had hep b - not any more? without treatment ? He seems to think the treatment wont be that bad? I have spoken to one friend who went through the treatment and he said it was ten months of hell- he was lucky he did not need to work and spent much of the time laying around watching tv and sick.I am suggesting my friend wait and take the new treatment as it has a shorter treatment plan and a higher rate of cure. Any input will be appreciated and options for I am open to all opinions.My friend is not interested in alternative health - he will do what the doctors tell him without much forethought or research nor will his pre treatment strategy be more then stopping alcohol intake three months prior - therefore my reason for concern .He leads a relatively low exercise life style and does not care about healthy eating. The doctors want to put him on antidepressants prior to treatment - he is also a moderate passive aggressive personality.He will accept info from me - his choice to use it or not.
