Re: Finally Alternatives to Antibiotics!
Hi there, iv just found this site and I think it's great. I have also been suffering from folliculitus of the scalp for around 7 years now. Started out as just the odd spot but my scalp soon became ravaged with spots and would regularly get infected and scab over.
Iv been on and off various types of
Antibiotics for years but they always seemed to only work for a while and then I would become immune and the problem would come back.
I have now been on Erythromycin 500 mg twice per day for a year and it has really helped. I still get the odd outbreak and always have a couple of spots on my scalp but my problems much better than it was. For the last month I have also been washing my hair with hibiclens once every 2 days which is also helping a lot.
My worry is what damage am I causing to my body by taking these
Antibiotics for the long term. I am very into my fitness and living a healthy lifestyle and hate the fact I have to take these
Antibiotics when it could be damaging me but I feel as though I have no choice but to.
Do you think I should continue to take them? Or do you think I should just try to to live with the problem without the antibiotics? How did you find it when you first came off Erythromycin? Did you get a big outbreak?
It's such a horrible thing to live with and I hope one day we will find a cure.
