Is low T4 even a bad thing (temporarily), especially when accompanied by elevated TSH?? Just speculation here but if the body increases TSH to stimulate production of thyroglobulin and in turn T4 is converted into T3 and if T3 is in the normal range couldnt this perhaps just be a "phase" of normalization where the body is trying to get its T3 to optimal levels?
If thyroglobulin is required for creation of the T's then it makes sense the body would increase TSH to increase production of it. If thyroglobulin is required for the creation of both T4 and T3 and T4 converts to T3, then wouldnt it make sense the low T4 levels are due to the fact the body is trying to create more T3 by T4 conversion to get its T3 levels where it wants them to be and because of that the T4 levels are low because the body is pushing them into T3 conversion?
Just because T3 levels are in normal range doesnt mean "optimal". Maybe your body is still trying to ramp up T3 creation and once its satisfied things are where they should be, TSH should drop, T4 should come back up and T3 should be where your body wants it.
Ideally one would have historical T3 data to look at and compare to current numbers.
